The snowbirds are starting to return and, for the first time, they will see a new functioning North Fort Myers Public Library.

And barely a day goes by without something going on over there for people age 2 to 92.

November promises to be a busy month, with programs designed for kids, teens and adults, with some that everyone can enjoy.

On Saturday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m., everyone can participate in "Build Your Pet a Castle," where you can build a castle out of recycled cardboard. The program is inspired by the book "Cat Castles: 20 Cardboard Habitats You Can Build Yourself" by Carin Oliver. All the materials will be provided, just make sure the castle stays indoors. Registration is required.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, at 1 and 2 p.m., mature library goers can experience virtual reality. Teens 13 and up and all adults can immerse themselves in a 3-D world of virtual reality with Oculus Go headsets. Registration is required.

Also, every Wednesday at 3 p.m., get out your chess boards and challenge your mind. People of all ages can try to capture the king. Registration is not required, but space is limited.

For the kids, family storytime can be enjoyed every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., except for fourth Wednesday, which is the day before Thanksgiving. Games Galore will also be today, Nov. 6 at 3:30 p.m.

For the tots, it's Baby Rhyme Time, where babies can learn nursery rhymes and fingerplays, interact with puppets, sing, read books, dance and much more. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to stay and play along during this program.

There will also be Thanksgiving crafts for kids on Tuesday, Nov. 19, and teen rock painting the following day, both at 3:30 p.m.

For adults, there will be a very important program on Thursday at 1 p.m. on open enrollment for Medicare and updates for 2020. Learn about your Medicare options, how to save on Part D costs and prepare for the open enrollment period. SHINE counselors will provide free counseling to beneficiaries, caregivers and those soon to be eligible.

Friday, Nov. 8 and 22, at 10 a.m. is the Knitting Nook for knitting and crocheting enthusiasts.

Among the special programs will be the Foreign Film Series "Bad Lucky Goat" on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m., the Writers Corner on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m., and NoNoWriMo: Come Write In, on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m., where you can join other writers and exchange advice, talk about your plot and characters and race to see who can write the most.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. is a book discussion "The Huntress" by Kate Quinn and Puzzles Galore on Monday, Nov. 25, at 1 p.m. where you can exercise your mind with crosswords, word searches, sudoku or a jigsaw puzzle.
