The Shell Factory & Nature Park will be holding two big events in the next week to benefit the Nature Park Foundation.

On Saturday, The Shell Factory will host Drag Queen Bingo from 6 to 8 p.m., with proceeds to benefit the Nature Park Environmental Education Foundation.

Bootylicious Drag Queen Bingo, is not your grandma's Bingo. It is the R-rated version of her favorite game as a way to bring in young people who like to spend money and have fun. It is becoming an extremely popular way to hold a fundraiser. And will happen monthly at the Shell Factory.

"We've had it a few times and it's become so popular. The people love it, the entertainers are outstanding," said General Manager Anne Sheridan.

Ten dollar admission will get you six bingo cards. Additional cards are $5. You must be 18 years old to participate and food and drink is available to purchase, as will 50/50 raffle tickets.

Doors open at 4 p.m. Hosts Bootsey and Lady Vicious will start mingling with guests at 5 before the Bingo begins. Reservations are recommended.

On Thursday, Sept. 12, the Rebel Riders Charities, a biker group, will present its quarter auction at Capt'n Fishbone's Restaurant. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the auction starting at 7.

There will be many items for people to bid on, in increments of 25 cents, as well as prizes, more than a dozen vendors and another 50/50 raffle.

"There will be some biker paraphernalia, jewelry and gift cards. The vendors will have items as well," said Chris Forbes, director of sales. "We hope this will support the animals and build new enclosures and maybe get new animals."

In the past, the Shell Factory would hold one huge event every year. The strategy has changed to have many smaller events throughout the year.

An auction paddle is $3 or two for $5.

The event will be at 16554 N. Cleveland Ave. on the grounds of the Shell Factory. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 246-6364.
