Prehistoric experience returns to Lee Civic Center

July 10, 2019
By CHUCK BALLARO (news@breezenewspapers.com) , North Fort Myers Neighbor

The Lee Civic Center will be transformed into a prehistoric landscape of dinosaurs this weekend.

Jurassic Quest will return for three days, July 12 to 14, to bring these reptiles out of extinction and onto the civic center floor. But don't worry. They don't bite.

Brandon Arnold, general manager, said Jurassic Quest is a traveling animatronic dinosaur exhibit that does nearly 100 shows per year. Its goal is to educate and entertain kids of all ages.

"It's about prehistoric science, entertainment and activities that wear your kids out like the bounce houses. It's lots of family fun."

Visitors will get to see more than 100 life-size dinosaurs that can move and breathe with facts about these creatures, realistic baby dinosaurs, science stations, a dinosaur cinema where you can learn more about them.

There are a lot of fun things for the kids to do, such as jump around in dinosaur bounce houses and bungee pulls, face painting, green screen photos, a toy section, dinosaur Jeopardy and much more.

There will be a lot of new experiences from last year, including a 24-foot Carnotaurus and T-Rex ride, the biggest such rides in the nation, new walking Dakotaraptors and Dilophosaurus, new fossil digs, paleontology, larger fossil stations, both real and fake, and a toddler petting zoo.

Jurassic Quest will be open Friday from 3 to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is suggested you buy tickets online before the event.

"Last year people seemed to like it, so we're bringing it back," Arnold said. "You can walk at your own pace. Be sure to come early to beat the lines. It gets busy around midday."

The price for tickets is $22. Seniors and police and military adults and kids is $20. Kids VIP, which includes unlimited access to the dinosaur rides is $36. Parking for the event is $5.
