Santa comes to the Shell Factory

December 4, 2018

For years, December at the Shell Factory has meant weekend visits by Jolly Old St. Nick, and this year is no exception.

Santa appeared at the Holiday House this past weekend, just as he did the previous weekend and like he will pretty much for the entire holiday season until the weekend before Christmas.

Black Friday was the busiest day for Santa, as dozens of children and their parents lined up halfway across the Holiday House for time wit the man in red.

Abigail Linsenbach visits with Santa Saturday at the Shell Factory’s Holiday House.

Saturday brought a steady stream of children waiting to have a photo op with him and to tell him what they hope to see under the tree Christmas morning.

Santa, as always, told them he couldn't promise anything, but that he would try as hard as he could to fill their wish list. If he couldn't, he did promise to get them something nice.

Santa also told the kids things you may not have known about him. For example, when you put cookies out for him, he prefers oatmeal raisin.

"I like the chocolate chip ones, but Mrs. Santa and the elves always eat them first," Santa said. "They don't lime oatmeal that much, but I do."

He also said he will not bring animals for children, and for good reason.

"Animals get hungry being in my sleigh all night, so I have to feed them. What do animals do after you feed them?' Santa asked one child. "Do you want your present to have dog poop on it? That's why I always say no."

Madison Bagle, 9, asked for an LOL Surprise, a small doll that has become very popular.

"The dolls spit and cry and pee and change color, too," Madison said. "I liked Santa. He was very nice."

Jessica Nichols, of Cape Coral, brought son, Jaxson, 3, to see Santa. Jaxson also wanted to tell anyone who was there his age and what he wanted.

"I want two Monster Trucks. I like Gravedigger. My dad likes the Scooby-Doo truck so I want that, too," Jaxson said.

"We went to Monster Jam in Arizona and he had a blast. He likes Scooby-Doo because a girl drives that one," Nichols said. "We go see Santa here every year."

Santa will be at The Shell Factory this Saturday as well as Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 15, 16, 22 and 23, from 10 a.m. to noon each day.
