Medical Central Family Health & Wellness at 3351 Marinatown Lane #200 opened its doors two weeks ago and, on Friday, held a grand opening celebration with food and an open invitation of welcome.

Vivian Rodriguez, office manager, said the opportunity came about when another doctor was selling their business.

"We decided to purchase the business and now we're offering different things and we want to be a one-stop shop for all medical needs," Rodriguez said. "Everything you need for family practice."

Staff at Medical Central Family Health & Wellness at 3351 Marinatown Lane cut the ribbon on their new business Friday.

The facility, whose motto is "Your First Step Towards Comfort," is expected to fill a niche and take care of most medical situations, from physical therapy to ultrasounds to lab work and general physicals for anyone over the age of 10 for employment or athletics.

The ultimate goal is to be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. six days a week. Currently, it's open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. so they can increase their patient base, which they have done rather quickly.

"There will also be extended hours, which will help many of our local citizens because some offices are only open until 5 p.m. and this makes it easier for them to come in," Jessy Castaneda, a spokesperson for the company.

Dr. Kevin Encarnacion, medical director, said he is very excited to have the new practice open for the community, especially those in need.

"We tend to give back and make people more aware of their health care and getting the work out," Encarnacion said. "We would like to devote time and resources to those who may not be able to help themselves."

Castaneda said they are also planning to start a phlebotomy school on Nov. 12, a six-week nightly course to get people into the medical field. Encarnacion said he would like to expand if this office is successful.

Medical Central takes most insurances, Medicare, Medicaid, and will take those who don't have insurance.
