Cowboy Crab and Seafood to hold back-to-school giveaway

July 25, 2018
By MEGHAN McCOY ( , North Fort Myers Neighbor

A business that has been part of the North Fort Myers community for six years will hold "Giveaway Sunday," this weekend, complete with backpacks, supplies and a hot dog lunch.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Cowboy Crab and Seafood, 1984 N. Tamiami Trail.

Stefan Lippke said he and his family decided to do a back-to-school event as a way to give back to the community. The idea came together quickly with a great deal of support from the community and other businesses.

"We reached out and asked if anyone wanted to donate anything," he said. "We have some amazing people and small businesses in the community that came together for each other. And I personally do business with most of them."

The event will include handing out free backpacks with supplies. Lippke said they will have 200 backpacks and, if the need arises, he will go out and purchase more.

"Anyone that needs them, we just wanted to give back," he said.

Lippke said they will also have a waterslide, bounce house, snow cone machines and hot dogs.

"We're going to bring our grill from home and cook hot dogs for everybody," he said. "We originally were going to do it by ourselves, but when we posted it on Facebook a lot of great people that own small businesses decided to chip in."

One of the businesses, Off the Hook Comedy Club, is donating free tickets to a show for everyone.

One hundred Cowboy Crab T-shirts will also be among the giveaways.

Lippke said they are running a commercial on FLY 98.5 about the event, and staff from 105.5 are sending volunteers to the event to provide a helping hand.

"If it's successful we'd like to do one for Christmas and back to school each year," he said.
