20th Annual Bobby Holloway Jr. Memorial Fishing Tournament April 7

By Staff | Mar 27, 2018

The 20th Annual Bobby Holloway Jr. Memorial Fishing Tournament will be held April 7 at Pineland Marina.

“The Pine Island Big Snook Award not only increases the competition again this year, but also gives us the opportunity to provide more enrichment for the youth of our community,” tournament director Ernestine Squires said.

The Bobby Holloway Jr. Memorial Fishing Tournament is an opportunity to participate in a fishing tournament, indulge in the barbecue and fish fry and enjoy a fun-filled weekend!

There will also be a raffle tent and silent auction. All net proceeds from the event will be donated to the Bobby Holloway Jr. Memorial Fund to benefit youth on Pine Island and surrounding communities.

The Bobby Holloway Jr. Memorial Fund focuses on enhancing the lives of youth in the island community. The fund provides enrichment for virtually every local youth activity in education, sports and the arts. The event kicks off on Friday, April 6, at 7 p.m., at Monroe Canal Marina in St. James City with the Captains’ Meeting, followed by the 7:30 a.m. honor start the next morning.

This year, the tournament will have cash prizes for the combined weight of one snook, one redfish and one trout, as well as the Pine Island Big Snook Award for a separate cash prize of $2,500.

There’s a special payout for 20th place this year for the 20th anniversary of $1,000 sponsored by Williamson Bros. Teams will have the chance to take home up to $7,950 in winnings, making this the largest payout the tournament has ever sponsored.

Registration is $350 per four anglers and $50 for each additional angler prior to March 30 when the entry fees will be $400. Entry fee includes captains’ dinner, ramp, parking, barbecue, fish fry and captain’s bag.
