North Fort Myers Neighbor

North Fort Myers 8, Barron Collier 4: Down 3-1 in seventh inning, the Red Knights stormed back with a seven-run seventh to rally past BC (18-10) and into Friday's region championship game against Tarpon Springs.

North had six hits and took advantage of two Cougars errors in that big seventh inning.

Haley Weaver's RBI single put North Fort Myers up 4-3. Mackenzie Peterson had two hits in the seventh, including a two-RBI single.

Shelby Coyne provided North's first run on a solo home run in the top of the third inning.

The Red Knights (26-3) will be at home Friday night, looking for a berth in the state Class 6A championship tournament at Dodgertown in Vero Beach.

North still does not have a loss against a team in Class 6A or lower this season.

Tarpon Springs 13-8 defeated Boca Ciega 6-2 on Tuesday to advance.

The Spongers were 2-5 in District 6A-9 during the regular season, but have made an impressive run in their district tournament and so far in the 6A playoffs. That surge includes beating Boca Ciega (6-0 in its district) twice.
