Most everyone loves the opportunity to meet a celebrity in person. Cape Coral residents will have that chance, as one of our very own locally owned and operated seafood market families will star in an episode of "Billion Dollar Buyer," a CNBC TV series that introduces promising companies across the country to one of America's most successful businessmen, Tilman Fertitta, chairman, CEO, and sole shareholder of Landry's, Inc.

"We are so excited at this opportunity," said Kerry Krieg, co-owner of Merrick Seafood and Fish Tale Grill at 1229 S.E. 47th Terrace, along with her sisters, Amy Keen and Debra Santorico. "It was definitely a unique experience; a little stressful while filming, but it will definitely be exciting to see it when it airs."

Merrick is a retail and wholesale market specializing in fresh, local seafood. Its neighboring restaurant, Fish Tale Grill, offers sit-down dining for lunch and dinner.

Krieg said a while back they received an email out of the blue from the show's creators, wanting to interview the family for an episode.

"In the beginning, we thought it was something that wouldn't be possible," she said. "But through rounds and rounds of interviews, one day, we got picked."

And from there, the Cape business - described by show creators as "a family-run operation whose owners will stop at nothing to prove their worth over larger competitors" - embarked on a forward-moving journey for owners and staff.

The show goes "behind the scenes," where viewers get to see what goes on far beyond the seafood market counter.

"I think people will get an inside look at what we do - I think they're going to see that Merrick is a very dynamic business, and be more inclined to think of us as a wholesale/retail business - as well as a sit-down restaurant," said Kerry's husband, Patrick, who is also speaking of Fish Tale Grill.

Krieg is very proud of her family's business, and eager to share how important it is for family to work together.

"This really is a family business - three daughters carrying on the family tradition. My sister, Amy Keen, runs our restaurant, Fish Tale Grill; I run its kitchen; my husband, Patrick, and Amy's husband, David, run the wholesale side of the business; and sister, Debra Santorico, runs the seafood market."

The family recently celebrated 25 years in business in Cape Coral, and offers daily sales and specials on a wealth of fresh seafood offerings.

Tune in to Billion Dollar Buyer, Episode 208, Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 10 p.m., on CNBC to cheer on our local seafood family and see their latest entrepreneurial endeavors.
