North Fort Myers, FL the untold story

March 30, 2009 - Scott Brenner
North Fort Myers the untold story, we might not have as much publicity as the thousands of foreclosures in Cape Coral or Lehigh Acres but we have them in N. Ft Myers all the same. No they are not just in undeveloped square block gridded vacant lots with vacant "flipper" houses on them. In North Fort Myers we even have foreclosures in gated communities or high rise river front once million dollar properties. We offer more "lifestyle" selections. Don't kid yourself there are plenty of foreclosures out there and yes they effect the community in so many ways. In N. Ft Myers We have them in all price points, neighborhoods, urban and rural settings and great suburban planned communities to the semi rural areas off Neal Grade even in the established neighborhoods that butt up to Cape Coral.

We have the same down turn in the economy as the rest of Lee County. In fact N. Ft Myers has some of the best entitled and 1/2 started redevelopments in the county. These uncompleted developments have some of the best back to the wild Eco programs I have ever seen. With their half completed landscaping and half done retro fitting of golf course communities, even some high rises with "suburban housing" river front marina entitled areas that could easily qualify for college case study classes on how long it takes Florida natural vegetation to reclaim buildings and developments. My many thanks go out to the code enforcement of Lee County who have a momentous task to complete. I am just trying to keep a sunny out look on same eye sores we all have to bear with in Lee County. The people here in North Fort Myers take the meaning of community and neighborhood a little more to heart. In my neighborhood there are several "vacant" homes, as we know the horror stories behind the headlines. But the real people who care about their neighborhood are the unsung hero's, these neighbors who go ahead next door with being asked or expecting to be paid and mowed the lawn, or picks up the 4th "for sale" sign that has fallen over then straightens out the battered mailbox and picks up the piled up newspapers and flyer's so the property & their neighborhood look good. That's my North Fort Myers, real people with real hard issues that know in their hearts what is the right thing to do and do it... My neighbors, and I am proud to be one of them. Scott Brenner
